On our peregrinations in Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska and Colorado, we stopped by a Minuteman silo near Wall, SD.
Things I learned: The fenced-in area of the silo is pretty small. My estimate, 1/4 acre. The silos are unmanned, the control area, where each of the officers have a key and need to turn them at the same time, etc. is remote and controls 10 silos.
After seeing the layout, I spotted 3 silos on the way between Hot Springs SD and Denver. We took a back way through Nebraska, which we theories was the mapping app avoiding traffic. Even though I knew the route we took, it was still pretty hard to find one of these three on Google maps. Here's the aerial view.
