Here is a view of my wristwatch from a normal angle. The watch is submerged in a sink full of water. Later shots show an interesting optical effect which is seen when looking at the watch from various angles. Posted by Picasa

At a fairly sharp angle all of the light reflects off the watch crystal and it appears to be a mirror. This is only observed when holding the watch underwater. I did not test if the effect holds when one views the watch from underwater. My camera, in all these shots, is in the air. Posted by Picasa

As I rotate the watch toward a normal viewing angle, one can see the mirror effect fading-out in the 8-5 o'clock region. Posted by Picasa

Now we see this odd optical effect. The depth between the crystal and the face of the watch appears greatly expanded--including even the thickness of the numerals. Posted by Picasa

A Sweet Rose From Our Garden

A fresh rose from our garden--it lasts such a short while. It is in a stoneware cup I made 30 years ago, on top of a sideboard which was finished only a year ago but I hope lasts at least 30 years. Finally a china plate which has roses on it and which is the only relic I have of my departed grandparents. Posted by Picasa
