Obama-Keyes Alt History

Illinois is and had been a very blue (Democrat) state and so Keyes (R) never had much of a chance.  Keyes was, in fact, what Obama could only pretend to be--an actual intellectual.

Let's play what if.  What if Keyes had somehow won this race? 

--The Senate seat is what catapulted Obama into the national spotlight and eventually into the presidency.  So there would have never been an Obama presidency.  There wouldn't have been all the racial discord Obama stirred-up, no Hillary Sec of State, no Hillary for president, no president Trump, no VP and then president Biden and no rematch between Trump and Biden.

Sure, things might of turned out worse, though I'm at pains to think of any worse timeline than the one we're on...
