Till V. Simpson

Leftists are going to mark Jan 6th 2020 along with August 28, 1955 as days of memorial, where moving speeches are made and eternal meaning found.

"So are you implying that Emmett Till got what he deserved"

No, but this is one lynching of some 6,500 so why does it get all the attention and why is it especially relevant 70 years after the fact?  A small and diminishing fraction of our population who were adults in 1955 are alive today.

"and we shouldn't memorialize, or try to learn anything from, this horrific crime and the miscarriage of justice that let the murderers be found not guilty?"

If we annually memorialized and tried to learn from every horrific crime in the last 70 years, that would fill every waking hour of every day. Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman's murderer walked free much more recently than the killers of Emmett Till, yet where is the effort to memorialize, or try to learn anything from, this horrific crime and the miscarriage of justice that let the murderer be found not guilty?

A Very Canada Thing:

Canadian Bumblepuppy said...

The British need a massive intervention to cure their drinking problem.

I'm Canadian and I like British folks but wow.

I was on a business trip to Vancouver BC and the return to Boston was via Las Vegas. About 30 minutes before we got to Vegas, the pilot came on the PA and announced that the bar was closed:  He noted that the passengers hadn't misbehaved, they partied but never got belligerent. They had drunk the plane dry:  There was literally no alcohol left on the plane.  I've flown hundreds of times and that was the only time this has happened.

Sometimes Four, Usually Three.

For fitness I run and I lift Weights.  The weak-link is that I do exactly one exercise when I lift weights:  Clean and Jerk.  This compound lift pretty much covers the whole body but one small extra bit fills in most of what's missing: Pullups.

My rotation of workouts is simple; I alternate between lifting and running.  I normally do my pullups on run day since the top half of my body is mostly along for the ride on that day.  My goal is to do as many sets of pullups and necessary to achieve 20.  If I'm really tired, feeling weak or unmotivated it might take 4 sets to reach 20.  Normally, I can do 7-8 in the first couple of sets, leaving only 4-6 for the third set.  Yesterday was a big departure for me, I did 10 in each of the first two sets!  I still did a 3rd set, of 7 though.

Ultimately, I'd like to get back to being able to do 20, which I could do in the last couple years I was in the Marines.

This is my setup--I could do 10 back in 2020 but I must have lost the knack along the way, I don't remember doing this anytime recently.

RIGGERS

With Trump, one never knows but my hunch is that he planted the word RIGGERS, all caps no less, because he knew that his opponents would latch onto it and make themselves look like imbeciles.

It makes sense from a pure mathematical standpoint: People who think it's a veiled slur wouldn't ever support Trump under any circumstances. Those same people lose some bit of influence with the broader public when they beclown themselves by getting triggered in this hypersensitive way.

Just Stop!

1. The election was, in fact, certified.

2. Had it been stopped by such legal means as a court order or congressional vote, it would have been legal.

3. You literally have no argument or point.  Lots of confidence though.  So there's that.
