An Appeal To Heaven

 

Even if everything Alito said was a lie and he was 100% behind all of the flag displaying--these are far too nebulous of speech to require recusal from any case.

All that being said, I think husbands and wives should be in accord for major things.  We have a neighbor across the street with an idiotic "In this house we believe" sign. Knowing the couple, I am almost certain that the sign is the doing of the wife. I assume the husband either doesn't give a damn or doesn't want to start a fight over it. In a healthy marriage, both sides put up with stuff they don't like.  If it's always one side that gives in, that's not healthy, or fair.

Let's Pretend

 Imagine if Biden was smart, had a lot of integrity and actually cared about the things he says he cares about?  Stop laughing!  This is a hypothetical.

What could he do in the wake of the Trump conviction, to further all of his goals?  What can politicians do, other than give a speech?  On second thought, maybe a press release would be better.

Fellow Americans, I feel compelled to address you in this unique occasion of a former and possibly future president being a convicted felon.  For the good of the country, I call on Donald Trump to withdraw his nomination for the presidency.  Now, some might rightfully say that I, Joe Biden, have a conflict of interest in this call.  They are correct.  Therefore as an act of good faith, I hereby withdraw my nomination for the presidency as of now.  I will not re-enter the race under any circumstances.  I have called on Trump to withdraw, but I have just withdrawn--This does not depend on Donald Trump doing the right thing for our country.

That is all.  No questions and God bless the United States.

Why is this smart?

1.   Any decent Democrat will do better against Trump than Biden.
2.   If Biden runs and loses, that is bad for leftist policies Biden favors.
3.   If  Biden runs and wins, his presidency will seem illegitimate to lots of people and Biden is likely to be a lot less effective as a senile lame duck than any half-decent Democrat.
4.   If Trump decides to stay in the race and runs against anyone but Biden, his chances are weakened because Trump will seem opportunistic.
5. If Trump drops out, this ensures someone better than Trump will win:  From Biden's point of view--any Democrat and any Republican, that's not Trump, will be better than Trump.

The Retcon

So, I was at a party and guess who was there?  

I don't know Laura, was it your Ex?  

Jesus Kim!  Way to spoil my big reveal!  

Ok, so how was the former Mr. Laura? 

He's fine, he got re-married and has like, 3 kids.  He showed me their pictures and they're cute--God damn him.

Did he ask about you?  

Yeah, he asked if I was married.  I said, "no" and was going to explain that I've been too busy to date, what with being in grad school for most of that time, but someone called to him and he said, "Great to see you, gotta run".

So, I decided to change the story, in slight and unimportant ways.  It'll make a good poster for the protest next week.
