 Line 1: I always open with yesterday's answer.

Line 2: Normally I will use my clues, which in this case means that I would use the letter E.  In this case, I decided to knock-out two more vowels and three consonants.  All I really accomplished was the elimination of some letters, but I picked up the R.

Line 3:  I used the clues and found the I, as well as two more places where the E and R shouldn't go.

Line 4: Found all the locations for the letters I had so far.

Line 5: This could have been BRINE or PRICE so I went with the first one because PRICE seemed too common of a word.

Ukraine's Choices

 1.  Surrender immediately: Civilian casualties will be minimized, but their country would likely be broken-up and the remainder turned into a satellite of Russia.

2. Dig-in and fight.  Make it costly for the Russians to take the country, but use this war of attrition as a means of getting to the bargaining table.  Pros:  Likely a better political outcome than option # 1, but there will be a cost of death, injury and destruction.  The danger of this approach is that they give Russia too much of a black eye and back Putin into demanding unconditional surrender.

3. Fight to the bloody end.  Refuse to negotiate.  Pros:  They could end up with a better outcome than option # 2.  Cons:  They could end-up with a much worse political outcome than option #1 and suffer horrendous levels of death, injury and damage.

Why Was I Legally Married On February 29th 1992

1. I happened to be getting married in 1992--this was very much happenstance: Had the first Gulf War not happened, it would have been in 1991.
2. My Wife's parents asked that we be legally married sometime before our planned drive from Washington to Massachusetts.   We were to have the formal ceremony in the Summer, in Massachusetts.
3. We found-out about the above, sometime in late 1991 or very early in 1992.
4. We narrowed the date down to a couple of different weekends.
5. One of which was the last week in February.
6. Leap-Day fell on the Saturday of that weekend.
7. It was probably easier to book the judge for a Saturday than a Sunday, but why would anybody want March 1st (Younger sister's birthday) when you could have February 29th?
